Dear ,

Collaboration is often a major key to success. Ideas like "two heads are better than one" and "the more the merrier" echo the thought that joining forces is generally a positive. On our non-stop mission to make our data more useful to you, Equifax took the essence of partnership and applied it to our commercial and consumer data and created a brand new score: a blended score.

What makes up 98% of employers in Canada but has the ability to fly under the financial radar?

Small business.
Businesses with 100 or fewer employees provide almost all of the jobs in the country, but most are unknown to the commercial lending world during their first few years of business, creating a blind spot for lenders. With most of their initial funding coming from personal investment and credit, the only performance information for newer, small organizations comes from utilities, insurance, and direct deposit accounts. These kinds of static trades aren't telling enough to assess the potential for delinquency. The idea to blend Equifax's consumer and commercial credit scores arose out of necessity: How do lenders grant credit to this massive sector of our economy knowing there is a blind spot that puts them at risk?

A second in a series of collaborations between Moody's Analytics US and Equifax Canada, Moody's has released a white paper entitled "Cautious Optimism for Canadian Credit Cards". This second paper used Equifax Canada as a major source and is based on seven years' worth of Equifax credit data. Click here to read more. Please note that this paper is only available in English.
